POSITION SUMMARY:  The Press Brake Operator is responsible for the daily setup and operation of a controlled press brake in a just-in-time fabrication facility with some assistance provided. This individual may be required to assist other operators on high priority jobs or temporarily reassigned to other duties within the fabrication department.  This individual shall collaborate with theManufacturing/Production Manger regarding the priority of jobs to facilitate the movement of product through the production floor.  The Press Brake Operator is responsible for adhering to company policies and procedures to ensure quality standards and customer part specifications are met.   
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Consistently applies the company values of quality, honesty and fairness, and the constant pursuit of excellence in providing precision metal fabrications, mechanical assemblies and services to our customers on time and at a competitive price. Prepare and run complex bend set ups and forming operations.  This includes custom punch/die modification used in combination with other tooling (either standard or custom).  Complex programming using all features of the press brake, such as but not limited to bending at angles, step bends, proper back gauge transfer between steps and delays.
  1. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.   
  2. Produce parts by locating and marking reference points on work pieces with rule, compass, template; positioning or aligning work pieces against stops and guides or with die.
  3. Maintain specifications by observing operations, detecting malfunctions, inspecting parts, and adjusting controls as warranted.    
  4. Work with management to identify areas of process improvement, cost and waste reduction.
  5. Execute timely, independent decisions and determine appropriate course of action based upon best practice and external customer requirements.
  QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE: 
  1. Minimum of 2 years of press brake operating experience.
  2. Must be able to read a tape measure, micrometers, calipers, protractors, and interpret tolerances with an attention to detail.
  3. Familiar with modern manufacturing techniques and materials.
  4. Ability and willingness to meet high-pressure deadlines.
  5. Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and maintain superior customer service at all times.   
   WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  1. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, kneeling, crouching, and significant fine finger dexterity. 
  2. Requires the visual and manual dexterity to operate a press brake.  
  3. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. ï‚· Must be able to work in standing/walking position in excess of eight hours a day. 
  INDEPENDENT ACTION:  Performs independently adhering to company policies and procedures. Interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and maintain superior customer service at all times. Refers specific complex problems to management where clarification of company policies and procedures may be required.  Ability to multi-task.  Strong analytical and organizational skills.  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable situations where only limited standardization exists.    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schematic form.
