Food Production Manager (Day Shift/Night Shift) – Mount Olive, NC Monroe Staffing is a division of Staffing 360 Solutions.   We are a leading staffing firm in the U.S. in the light industrial sector. We currently have an immediate, direct hire opening for a Food Production Manager (Day Shift/Night Shift) for a well-known food processing plant in Mount Olive, NC.  Location:  Mount Olive, NCDays:Monday – Saturday (6-day schedule, May thru September)Hours:5:30 PM – 2:30 AM (Night shift – end time subject to change with production)Salary:  $65,000 – $72,000/yearly base salary (commensurate with experience)Plus, full benefits package.  Requirements for the Food Production Manager (Day Shift/Night Shift):
Must have management and leadership experience.   Must have a strong background in food processing, specifically with ingredients, fermentation, mixing, recipes, cook times, batching, quality control, and packaging. Must also be familiar with cGMP’s, food quality standards, and industrial food processing equipment such as pasteurization ovens. Must have effective communication skills and a great personality.   The Food Production Manager will manage a department of 25-30 production employees during day shift/night shift. Must have aptitude to manage people, set example by own conduct and work habits, make prompt and competent decisions, use authority wisely and keep discipline, morale, and teamwork at a high standard. 
  • Must have stable and consistent employment history, showing long-term commitment and reliability in previous employment history.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Technical or specialized training.
  • Successful completion of Acidified Foods GMP School.
  • 3 years in food production process and strong working knowledge of mechanical processes and equipment.
  • Must be articulate in both written and verbal communication, showing clarity, effectiveness, and professionalism.
  • Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations (federal, state, EEOC, EPA, OHSA, and ADA). 
  • Must speak, read, and write English.   Conversational Spanish is a plus.

   Responsibilities of the Food Production Manager (Day Shift/Night Shift):
The Food Production Manager supervises the production department to meet quality and production performance standards.   The departments supervised will be in the areas of Cutting, Packing, Pasteurizing/Capping, and Finished Goods.
Ensures all employee safety, food safety, and food quality rules and regulations are followed.   Communicate same to employees.   Ensures all employees are trained and are performing their duties in these areas. Monitors adherence to and ensures compliance with “Standard Operating Procedures” (SOP’s) and “Good Manufacturing Practices” (GMP’s). Supervises and coordinates all departmental activities prior to the beginning of each shift to ensure on-schedule start-ups. Assigns job tasks to departmental employees as dictated by day-to-day production requirements. Utilizes machinery, personnel, and equipment to get maximum production and efficiency for each production run. Works to reduce and cut all sources of waste including raw materials, time, and equipment failures.Evaluates performance and quality of product during and throughout the run. Monitors conditions of all machines and equipment in assigned department.Writes work requests for repairs, needed changes, or additions. Updates forklift records daily.   Ensures all forklifts are in working order.Reviews and turns in forklift checklists daily. Coordinates work activities with other departments of the company.Works closely with other supervisors to avoid any confusion and miscommunication that could result in downtime. Meets regularly with Superintendent to discuss problems, opportunities, schedules, safety conditions, etc.Reviews departmental reports for accuracy, completeness, and promptness. Accountable for results in terms of costs, budgets, methods, safety, quantity, and quality of production, operations, and personnel. Maintains and updates several reports and spreadsheets on computer.Maintains computer and paper files as needed. Maintains areas of operation in a safe and sanitary manner.    Makes effective use of and makes recommendations on physical assets. Ensures safety rules, company policy, and good housekeeping are followed. Other Duties 
  • Will perform some duties of subordinates or other Production Supervisors in their absence.
  • Will occasionally operate forklift in performance of some job duties.
  • Will occasionally drive own vehicle or company vehicle in performance of some job duties.
  • Ensures proper choice, training, evaluation, discipline, and communication with employees.
  • Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, and project teams as appropriate.

  • Personal computer and standard office equipment.

  Physical Demands of the Food Production Manager (Day Shift/Night Shift):
  • Standing: Sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to complete job tasks, sometimes for long distances, or moving from one work site to another.
  • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to move objects.
  Work Environment of the Food Production Manager (Day Shift/Night Shift):
  • Regular office and plant conditions.
  • Long hours and work weeks are needed during intake season.
  • Plant may be subject to some seasonal temperature variations and intermittent wetting in certain areas.
  • Earplugs and hearing protection are needed on the production floor because of machinery noise.
  • Hairnet and beard net are needed on the production floor.
  • Steel-toe shoes are needed.
